Bloodborne Pathogens Standard Training for Body Piercers

New Flower piercer John Johnson does Bloodborne Pathogens Standard training for body piercers on behalf of the Association of Professional Piercers. This requires special training in OSHA standards and after four years it was time for John to renew his authorized trainer certificate.

In 2014 he traveled to Oklahoma City where this training took two weeks. Renewing is a much easier process and could be done locally. John spent three days at Cal State University Dominguez Hills with other trainers from different industries who needed the same credential.

OSHA, which is part of the U.S. Labor Department, has four divisions, General Industry, Maritime, Construction, and Disaster Site. Body piercing, and most industries, fall under General Industry. Piercers are required to have annual BBP training and it needs to be industry specific. With a new four year certificate John can help piercers become compliant with federal regulations and help keep piercing safe.
