Scene Report: Thailand/Cambodia

For a lot of us piercers, the ability to stop thinking of piercing doesn’t exist. We notice everything related to our industry. We know when someone in line at the bank has a really well placed Industrial piercing. We recognize the jewelry in someone’s nostril piercing at the grocery when it’s BVLA. Also, when we see a poorly placed septum piercing or a helix that’s being slept on, we notice that too.

The two helix piercings above, and the industrial piercing below, were both done at a local Bangkok market.

New Flower piercer John Johnson, who manages our Torrance  piercing operation inside Black Raven Tattoo, visited Thailand and Cambodia in late November/early December. This is when we introduced our first ever Scene Report in our monthly email.

The most notable thing to report about Thailand is men stretching only a single earlobe. It wasn’t common to see a lobe stretched over 1/2″ although there were some, and it was always only a single earlobe.

When asked why they were stretching only one ear piercing the answer was always that this is the style. There was no reason for which ear to stretch. There seemed to be equal amounts of left and right ears being stretched.
