Body piercers, and nearly everyone else on earth who works in some form of the visual arts, such as clothing designers in the fashion industry and graphic designers, arrange their work around the Pantone Color Institute’s selected “color of the year.”

To clarify what we mean, Pantone selects a color (color of the year) their specialists have decided reflects the essence of the upcoming year. Clothing designers will use this color as the basis for their designs. As the seasons change and new color palettes are introduced, those palettes will also revolve around the Color of the Year. In the image above, you’ll see the colors you should expect to be common in clothing and accessories throughout 2023.

Below you can read what the Pantone website says about the 2023 Color of the Year, Viva Magenta.
“In this age of technology, we look to draw inspiration from nature and what is real. PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta descends from the red family, and is inspired by the red of cochineal, one of the most precious dyes belonging to the natural dye family as well as one of the strongest and brightest the world has known.
Rooted in the primordial, PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta reconnects us to original matter. Invoking the forces of nature, PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta galvanizes our spirit, helping us to build our inner strength.”
