New Flower has remained compliant with all health orders issued over the last year and continues to be so now. However, with the recent re-openings and tier changes, piercing services under the mask continue to be prohibited throughout all of California. In fact, there is no tier system which allows us to return to our most requested services.
Other personal care industry workers, specifically barbers and estheticians, may provide services under the mask. At the same time, no one from the city of Long Beach, state of California, or Cal/OSHA is able to tell us what conditions must be met that allow us to work under the mask as well.
The current health orders for body art, like piercing, are from October. We certainly feel they’re outdated, and our industry has been left behind, while other adjacent industries have recently seen their restrictions be relaxed. If you’d like to help in our efforts to allow piercing studios decide for themselves which services to provide we invite you to use the following links to the contact forms for our local representatives, Senator Tom Umberg and Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell.
